Semarang, September 2, 2025 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (FEB Undip) once again strengthened its commitment to internationalization by presenting a visiting lecture entitled “Business Analytics and Econometrics for Managerial Decisions.” The event, held in Hall C of Building C of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB Undip), featured Kandrika Pritularga, Ph.D., from Lancaster University Management School, United Kingdom, and was attended by undergraduate and master’s students.
The event opened with remarks from Dr. Mahfudz, S.E., M.T., Head of the Department of Management at FEB Undip. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for Kandrika Pritularga’s willingness to share strategic insights with the FEB academic community. “We are very grateful for Kandrika Pritularga’s presence at FEB Undip. Her presence not only enriches students’ knowledge but also broadens their global perspectives, which are much needed in this era of international competition,” said Dr. Mahfudz.
In a guest lecture moderated by Danes Quirira Octavio, S.E., M.Sc., a lecturer in the Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (FEB Diponegoro University), Kandrika, a researcher in business forecasting and a lecturer in Management Science at Lancaster University Management School, United Kingdom, explained the crucial role of analytics and econometrics in supporting business decision-making.
He explained how data can be transformed into relevant insights, emphasizing the importance of understanding the context of business decisions and applying analytics to various aspects, from operational policies to marketing strategies. Through several case studies, such as newsvendor problems in inventory management to promotional modeling in marketing, Kandrika emphasized that data is not just a series of numbers, but a foundation of knowledge capable of generating more accurate, measurable, and valuable decisions for an organization.
This guest lecture also emphasized the importance of mastering analytical methods, ranging from descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, to prescriptive analytics, which can be applied in various business sectors. Students were encouraged to not only understand theory but also relate it to real-world practice in the industrial world.
Through this activity, FEB Undip demonstrates its consistency in building an international academic network while enhancing the quality of learning. Visiting Lecturers provide a strategic platform for students and faculty to interact directly with global experts and reinforce FEB Undip’s vision of becoming a world-class faculty.
